Pain Management

Your comfort level is very important to us and keeping your pain under control is important to your well-being. While you are a patient in the hospital, staff will be asking if you are experiencing any pain. Staff will check your pain by asking what your pain level is and request that you rate your pain. It is important to set realistic goals with your provider when discussing pain management. Please notify someone on your care team if you are in pain.

Rating your Pain
-
You may be asked to describe how bad your pain is by using numbers on a scale of 0 (zero) to 10, with 10 being the worst pain. Other pain scales may be used that incorporate words, colors, faces or pictures to indicate your level of pain. The more we know about your pain, the better it can be managed.
